Put Your Happy Feet on and Celebrate International Penguins day at SAMREC

Penguin Day 2013

International Penguins day is celebrated worldwide on the 25th April each year. This marks the annual migration of penguins to the north. Penguins are found in Antarctica, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, the Falkland Islands and the Galapagos Islands. Elsewhere, they are only found in zoos. SAMREC situated in Port Elizabeth along Marine Drive is a rehabilitation and education centre for penguins and birdlife. With St Croix Island just off Nelson Mandela Bay now been the largest breeding colony in the world, the community is invited to join in the celebrations by participating in the Happy Feet 5km Fun Run fundraiser that will take place at SAMREC in the Cape Recife Nature Reserve on the 20th April 2013.
