Friday 27th June sees the launch of the 11 Days of AMAZ!NG that is the National Arts Festival. The sleepy, varsity town of Grahamstown comes to a screeching halt for a week and a half, when people flock from all over the globe to bathe in the luxury of the Arts. The internationally renowned smorgasbord of Arts and Culture is on the eve of its 40th Anniversary, so you know they’re doing something right! This year’s programme is heaving with a line-up that is sure to keep everyone happy. Be it art, drama, dance, comedy, film or music – you are guaranteed to be spoiled for choice at over 100 venues. The Think Fest and Spirit Fest programmes bring together thought leaders, trendsetters and provocateurs, and will definitely host

Zebra and Giraffe, hailed as one of South Africa’s most dynamic live acts will show you just why they are when they hit the road this September to introduce fans to their latest album, The Wisest Ones. Boasting an impressive collection of awards such as the 2009 South African Music Awards win for Best Rock Album, Collected Memories, and the same year, the MTV Africa Music Awards win for Best Alternative, Collected Memories, The Wisest Ones showcases the bands desire to experiment while solidifying their roots as one of SA’s most prominent alternative-rock groups. With big plans for the future and a very busy schedule lined up, the tour takes the band to the USA in October and to Europe in early 2013, but not before one more

South Africa’s coolest cultural event of the year is around the corner! The Art world has experienced some craziness this past month with The Spear to a Guy who exhibited his cat as a helicopter. Based on above, are you waiting with bated breath and ANTiSiPPPPPPPaaaaaation to see what this years Arts Fest has to offer? Well you name it, Grahamstown has it! Film, Public Art, Performance Art, Street Theatre, Dance, Comedy, Family Theatre, Cabaret, Physical Theatre, Folk Music, Story Telling, Music… The list is endless… It truly is the be-all and end-all of South African Art scene - When Grahamstown comes alive for eleven days of outstanding Arts and Culture on the 28th of June till July 8th 2012. The little
