Artisan bread is hot and on the rise fresh from Port Elizabeth. A bunch of mates visiting Madagascar had a swell idea when their craving for fresh warm bread was satisfied when they bought delicious warm fresh bread from a man on an old bicycle, stacked high with fresh baguettes. The experience was too divine not to share, and so the name Vovo Telo was born in Richmond Hill, Port Elizabeth. It was all about bread – until neighbours started rocking up outside with their own fillings, and devouring the yumminess perched on the bakery’s stoep. The team then decided to make the environment a little more hospitable and put out some chairs and tables and offered coffees too. Vovo Telo now has nine bakeries across South

Chen Foong started the business as a General Dealer with his wife over eighty years ago, operating from a room in their home. It was then passed onto their son and then their grandson and the legend continues. Grant Foong is now the Master Chef in the kitchen and smiles with pride owning his legendary family business. When you walk inside you feel right at home, the family knows you by name and his children are always popping in or out. The legend continues.. To the PE virgin, ‘Nanaga’ means nothing.   It’s just a word that is difficult to pronounce. To everyone else, it is a magical term that retains a mythical and nostalgic quality, bringing back memories of delicious pies and refreshments from a little building on an innocuous stretch of road. As a child, you always had to stop at the legendary Nanaga Farm Stall and, as a grown up, nothing has changed. Nanaga is a success story built around its famous, handmade pies.  Anyone who has approached Port Elizabeth from the northeast will testify having being told vehemently in advance by locals to stop for a chicken, mint and lamb or spinach and feta pie.  The
