Eating Out

Love, patience, passion and food.

Artisan bakery Port ElizabethArtisan bread is hot and on the rise fresh from Port Elizabeth.

A bunch of mates visiting Madagascar had a swell idea when their craving for fresh warm bread was satisfied when they bought delicious warm fresh bread from a man on an old bicycle, stacked high with fresh baguettes.

The experience was too divine not to share, and so the name Vovo Telo was born in Richmond Hill, Port Elizabeth. It was all about bread – until neighbours started rocking up outside with their own fillings, and devouring the yumminess perched on the bakery’s stoep. The team then decided to make the environment a little more hospitable and put out some chairs and tables and offered coffees too.

Vovo Telo now has nine bakeries across South Africa and the deliciousness is growing fast. They offer a range of sandwiches, pastries, light breakfasts and lunches that you can enjoy at any of their stores.

The Vovo Telo crew are huge supporters of local producers, making your meal an ethical eating experience too. “We use local, artisanal products in all our bakeries, supporting producers who share our love of quality and integrity. From stone-ground flour, to Karoo olives, award-winning boerenkaas, free-range eggs and farm-fresh produce.”

Their range of Artisinal bread includes: Baguette, Ciabatta, Pain au levain, Sourdough, Foccaccia, Olive levain, Panini ciabattini and Whole wheat.

Find them in PE in Pickering Street and Richmond Hill or check out the website for a full store directory.
