76 km and 44km trails to keep you on your toes…
Elephants do not traditionally make good joggers. As far as running is concerned, these beautiful beasts tend to take it easy, with the occasional moment of ferocious sprinting, trumpeting and ear flapping.
On the 2nd of March 2013, a unique opportunity will arise, giving joggers a truly unique setting to ply their trade. This is the 7th edition of The Addo Elephant Trail Run, where runners will share the bush with our favourite, trunk-swaying, tusked leviathans.
The marathon is extremely popular and, with 76km and 44km routes available through the vast Addo Elephant National Park, will test both the mental and physical limits of the participants.
These routes take the runners through the wild, postcard-envious Eastern Cape landscape, with mountains, valleys, wide-open spaces, and an abundance of unique vegetation and birdlife. For those looking to improve upon previous marathon times, perhaps an encounter with a flapping-eared, short distance running elephant will provide the necessary adrenaline to do so…
Although registration for the limit of 300 participants closed on February the 1st this year, there is still an opportunity for interested parties to go along and enjoy the spectacle.
