Port Elizabethans are looking at our concrete jungle in a new light – let’s just say they are turning it into their very own jungle gym. You can join them by tackling the city for a 12km urban run through the CBD of Nelson Mandela Bay. Expect to run, scramble, climb, and dangle to get you sweating and smiling as you run against the backdrop of our iconic city centre.
Urban Runs also referred to as Urbanathlon’s are multi-disciplinary. It is a city foot race with the emphasis on having a whole lot of fun as well as raise funds for an awesome cause. The goal for the 2012 Urbanathlon is to raise over R100,000 for charity – Z Sports and The Herald organisers of the event hope that the philanthropist in you will come out through your involvement in the Urban Run. All participants are required to raise a minimum of R100 for this cause by getting donations from colleague’s, friends and family members in the build up to the event. Various levels of incentives have been designed to encourage participants to collect as much money as possible for the event’s chosen charities.
There will be heaps of entertainment and activities on the Donkin from 9am on Sunday 16 September. The Rotary Club of PE will have a Kids Zone to entertain and care for your little ones. Entries for the Urban run close today check out the website for more info or follow this awesome initiative on Facebook.
