Friday 27th June sees the launch of the 11 Days of AMAZ!NG that is the National Arts Festival. No7 Castle Hill Museum is celebrating International Museums Day on the Friday 17th May from 10am to 4pm. Old crafts will be demonstrated; such as embroidery, lace making and quilting. At 10.30 there will be a talk on Victorian Jewelry and a chance to make your own ‘Victorian earrings’. No 7 Castle Hill is the second oldest surviving Settler cottage in Port Elizabeth. The picturesque family dwelling dates back to 1827, built by Rev Frances McClelland, the first Colonial Chaplin in the city. Rev Frances McClelland lived there during his term of office, after which it was home to many English Settlers during the early to late 19th Century. International Penguins day is celebrated worldwide on the 25th April each year. This marks the annual migration of penguins to the north. Penguins are found in Antarctica, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, the Falkland Islands and the Galapagos Islands. Elsewhere, they are only found in zoos. SAMREC situated in Port Elizabeth along Marine Drive is a rehabilitation and education centre for penguins and birdlife.
